Controls Workshop

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Bethesda, MD

Researchers, developers and any others interested in learning about WEC modeling, control and design are encouraged to register for the Monday Controls Workshop.

Attendees will learn about modeling, device and control design, and experimental testing of wave energy converters (WECs) from Giorgio Bacelli and Ryan Coe of Sandia National Labs. To reinforce classroom concepts, attendees will have the opportunity to work with a model-scale wave energy converter in a series of experiments in the Navy’s Maneuvering and Sea Keeping (MASK) basin.

Space is limited to 20 people and is an additional cost of $85 to your ICOE registration. Fee covers round trip shuttle to and from the Marriott Marquis, coffee/tea and an afternoon snack.

Carderock Tour

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, Bethesda, MD

ICOE attendees interested in observing wave tank testing should consider attending the tour of the Naval Surface Warfare Center on Thursday afternoon.

Tour attendees will have a chance to visit the Navy’s Maneuvering and Sea Keeping (MASK) basin to witness testing conducted by Sandia National Labs on wave energy converter (WEC) control and power-take off (PTO) design.

Space is limited to 45 people and is an additional cost of $40 to your ICOE registration. Fee covers round trip shuttle to and from the Marriott Marquis.
